The Baby Box Project
Giving gifts of hope to new moms

Help us reach out to the most vulnerable little people in our country

From August, we will be collecting mid-season boxes. A medium blanket and a long sleeve (yet not super-fleecy) outfit.

From October, we will be collecting summer boxes! A light blanket and a summer outfit.

Mandela day was a huge success and we collected over 200 fully made-up boxes, as well as extra toiletries, blankets and knitted outfits. We have scheduled extra drop-offs in August to give out all these boxes. We will go to Rahima Moosa hospital as usual, as well as OT Tambo memorial hospital and hopefully Leratong Hospital. We are working on developing sustainable relationships with the social work department in each of these new hospitals.

After our board meeting in January, we have set ourselves the goal of delivering 1000 boxes in 2016. We got off to a good start with our first delivery of the year on Thursday 11th February.

After reading this article about the availability of water to new mothers, we have decided to include a bottle of water in our Baby Boxes. We feel that this is important as it supports moms who have little access to water both at home and in a crowded hospital. It also aids their breastfeeding journey.
